Hello again from Sew Happily Ever After! I have been looking for the perfect tech bag. You see I carry my iPad almost everywhere that I go. It's hard to find a bag that can carry it and still fit other essentials that I need to carry with me.
So Sew Easy has really written a fantastic multi-purpose tech bag pattern. The instructions are very well written. The interfacing is fusible fleece and it really gives this bag some structure while also offering some much needed protection while carrying your device.
There are 2 pockets that make up this bag. The front flap covers the first pocket. The closure slides very nicely through the large grommet on the flap and secures with a velcro closure. You could substitute a button, snap, or magnetic closure--although the designer cautioned against the snap or magnetic closure because of the possibility of ruining your device. I opted for the velcro. Quick and easy.
The back pocket is a zipper closure. The pattern includes instructions on a unique way of installing the zipper that provides professional and smooth results. This is a great pocket to keep your charger or even your wallet and perhaps a few other items that you would be likely to carry with you.
I did decide to extend the strap so that I could carry it cross-body as that is my preferred way to carry any bag. You could also shorten the strap, make it adjustable, or even omit it altogether, which would make a very impressive portfolio to carry.
The pattern details:
- pattern piece for the flap
- measurements for all other pieces
- step-by-step instructions with pictures
- interfacing dimensions are smaller than the pattern pieces to reduce bulk in the seams
