KZJO'Studio just released a new ladies top pattern that is perfect for fall - The Cosette Top. The pattern's interesting details and flattering shape set it apart in its class. My Cosette Top is quickly becoming a favorite in my wardrobe!

The Cosette Top is drafted in sizes 0-18 and is based off a C-cup. The overall fit is semi-fitted and there are two sleeve lengths included in the pattern, short and 3/4 length. The Cosette Top is perfect for busy mornings. With no zippers or closures, you can just pull it on and go. The lack of closures also makes it a fairly quick sew - Bonus!

The construction of the Cosette Top body is broken into front and back pieces and two side panels. The bias cut side panels allow for a flattering drape. The side panels also add a ton of visual interest. Using a pattern such as a stripe, check or plaid will really highlight this feature. I'm keeping my eyes open for the perfect plaid for my next Cosette. Plaid is so hot right now ;)

The recommended fabrics include light to mid-weight woven fabrics such as brushed cottons, flannel, cotton shirtings, chambray, voile, linen, rayon challis, satin, sequins and silk crepe de chine. I chose a very lightweight 100% rayon from JoAnn fabrics found here. The texture of the 100% rayon is incredibly soft with a wonderful drape and the colors are perfect for fall.

The instructions are written very clearly. I like how each part of the construction is broken apart into clearly labeled sections. There are two options for finishing the neckline: bias tape or facings. I chose to do the facing option. The instructions mention that topstitching the side panels is optional, but I felt it was necessary to keep the shape through washes.

The neckline is another unique feature. I love the slight "V" rectangle shape. It's a nice change from the usual crew, V-neck and scoop necklines.

I found the overall fit to be nice but slightly on the small side through the bust and shoulders even though I fit the measurements on the size chart. This may have been a user error or have something to do with my slippery fabric selection. I will definitely size up for my next Cosette Top.

Final thoughts - I truly love the details included in this pattern and it is incredibly comfortable while still being stylish. I will be making many more for my everyday "momiform".
